Lesson 32 : Organizations Working for the Welfare of the Disabled

Introduction

The number of disabled people in the country has been estimated around 120 lakhs by 2001 A.D. That is Approximately 10% of the children are suffering with disabilities. The ministry is implementing programmes for the early detection and treatment, education, and training and rehabilitation for different categories of impaired persons. There are various National Institutions working for the cause of disabled children in our country in the area of education, training, vocational guidance, counseling, rehabilitation and research.
