Preparation of Nursery

  1. The nursery beds should be located within the shade net house.
  2. Prior to making beds, it is desirable to dig the soil well, break clods and form fine tilth.
  3. To set the beds, mark out convenient length and the width should be invariably 1 m.
  4. The structural frame work comprises of GI- B class pipe with a flat roof and drooping sides.
  5. The shed is covered with shade net of 35 per cent shade. Studies revealed that 35 per cent shade is the optimum to regulate and limit the plant growth in the desired level, since higher shade would prompt etiolating crop growth.
  6. The roof as well as sides of the net house should be totally covered so as to ensure protection from insects and pests.
  7. Provision for one or two doors should also be given.
