Lesson 43 : Regulation of Child Welfare Institutions

Registration

Group of people, who initiates programmes for children, should get a legal personality and a corporate status. This is done through registration. There are different laws for registration of child welfare institutions, such as

  • Societies Registration Act, 1860
  • Cooperative Societies Act
  • Companies Act
  • Charitable Trust Act

The degree of regulation by the government and the community varies under these different Acts. These Acts also lay down the organizational structure of an agency, the methods of maintaining accounts, preparation of by-laws, inspections, informing the community at large about their programmes and activities etc.
