Lesson 21 :Identity Development during adolescence

Identity – meaning

It is a self structure or an internal organization of values, abilities, feelings and prior experiences. This self structure is dynamic and more organized. To develop this self structure the individuals should be aware of their strengths and weaknesses and their unique qualities. Likewise, a person with the less developed sense of identity is likely to be more confused and lacking in self knowledge. This self structure changes gradually as a result of both age and experiences.
