Career education

The concept of career education subsumes aspects of both vocational training and vocational education. Vocational training relates to the development of skills which may be used in the field of work.

Advantages of career education:

  1. The student becomes familiar with major categories of occupation.
  2. It helps individuals to become familiar with the value of work oriented society and to integrate these values into their personal value structures in ways that make work meaningful and satisfying.
  3. Career education prepares a young person for a career.
  4. Students learn how technological developments affect their lives by changing their own physical and psychological environments.
  5. Career education is perceived as contributing to peace because students who conceive their education is relevant to what they will do, are more likely to take it seriously.
  6. It helps the students to enter occupations of their choice within the general frame work of their competencies.
