Early Childhood Education Scheme

The scheme was introduced in sixth plan to reduce the dropout rate and to improve the retention rate in primary schools. Under this scheme central assistance is given to NGOs to run preschool centers. This scheme was initially with Dept of Education but later moved to Dept of Women and Child Development.
