Difference in self presentation

There are two types in self presentation (Snyder, 1983)

  • High self monitors- they monitor carefully their own behavior and adjust it skillfully based on signals from others. They are good impression managers. Basically they change their behavior and present themselves according to others and situations.

  • Low self monitors- are not concerned about creating good impression. They do not pay attention to social cues and present themselves as they see fit and not mould their behaviors to suit others or the situations.
