Labels Used In the Clothing Industry

A label is defined as that part of a product, which carries information about the product or the sellers. Labels in the jclothing industry provide guidelines to the consumer about the quality and care of the product.

Label, are permanently attached to garments on the inside where they do not show during wear. They are usually made of ribbon or cloth. They may be attached at the back neckline or waistline, on a facing, or at a side seam. It has even become fashionable to put labels on the outside of sportswear garments. Jeans often have leather like printed patch sewn on the outside. They may be any color or style as long as they do not ravel. They must give certain types of information. The information may be written on both sides of a label if the label is attached so it can be turned over. Sometimes label information is stamped onto shirttails or collars with indelible ink, or glued or fused onto fabrics.
