The Organization of DD

Doordarshan is headed by a Director General. The Engineering Wing takes care of the maintenance and expansion of its technical infrastructure under an Engineer-in-Chief. The Programme and News Wings have a number of Deputy Directors-General and other officers. The Administration Wing is headed by an Additional Director-General arid the finance Wing by a Deputy Director-General.

Doordarshan operates 22 channels: 5 all-India channels: 11 regional language channels; 5 state networks and one international channel. The all-India channels are: DD-1 (National Channel); DD-2 (Metro Entertainment Channel); DD Sports; DD-Bharati (All India Entertainment Channel) and DD-Gyan darshan (Educational Channel in collaboration with the Ministry of Human Resource Development).

The 11 Regional Language Satellite Channels are: DD-4 (Malayalam); DD-5 (Tamil); DD-6 (Oliya); DD-­7 (Bengali); DD-8 (Telugu); DD-9 (Kannada); DD-10 (Marathi); DD-11 (Gujarati); DD-12 (Kashmiri); DD-13 (Languages of the North-East); and DD-18 (Punjabi).
The State Networks are: 00-14 (Rajasthan); 00­IS (Madhya Pradesh); 00-16 (Uttar Pradesh); 00­17 (Bihar) and 00-19 (Himachal Pradesh). 00- World is the International Channel.
