Lesson 3 : Principles of Print Media

Introduction

In 1997 the Committee of Concerned Journalists began a national conversation in the United States among citizens and news people to identify and clarify the principles that underlie journalism. After four years of research the group released a Statement of Shared Purpose that identified nine principles. These principles are not particular to any country or culture and can be applied all over the world if the idea of journalism is that defined in the statement of purpose.
