Types of Leaders

The leaders existing in the villages can be of different types.
There are several ways of classifying leaders; some of them are listed below:

1. Democratic, autocratic or laissez-faire leader
2. Professional and lay leaders
3. Political, religious, social and academic leader
4. Traditional and progressive leaders

At present, the existing pattern of rural leadership can be divided into two broad categories of leaders, these are:

1. Traditional leaders
2. Emergent leaders
