Content of Training

The following content areas may be considered for organization of leader’s trainings:

  • Theoretical information should always be related to practical situations.
  • Content of the training programme should be problem centered. The technical knowledge and skills imparted on the subject matter be according to the problems encountered so as to develop their expertise in the field. This helps them to demonstrate advice and play lead roles.
  • Clear vision of the basic principles and goals of rural development and an insight of the practical set up.
  • Development of leadership in rural society.
  • Knowledge on various alternative approaches and results of social, economic, political, cultural and technological changes.
  • Content of training should lead to development of basic skills such as good skill in writing, speaking and record keeping.
  • Group work skills required in organizing meeting, conducting group discussions, working in team, community organizations, stimulating group thinking, group planning and group action and implementation of programmes.
  • Local government principles and coordination of local bodies.
  • Practical activities of community life such as rural education, recreation, elements of agriculture, animal husbandry, public health etc.
