The extension methods used be specific

To help rural people execute their programmes effectively and help them in adopting the desired changes, the Gram Sevak needs to know the use of effective extension methods. For this purpose he needs to have a thorough understanding of:

    • Knowledge and skills needed for effective use of different extension methods.
    • Knowledge of people’s attitudes, values, aspirations and needs.

Some of the different extension methods that can be used for programme execution include:

    • Listening and observing: Experiences of the rural people should be heard patiently and then accordingly be advised.
    • Systematic discussions: with villagers as individuals in groups is quite helpful in finding out the problems and their possible solutions.
    • Demonstrations: Appropriate demonstrations organized for different technologies, help the rural people to see the change in themselves and observe the advantages of the changed practices.
