Introduction

Many documents have been produced on children for their welfare. We also find many convention recommendations, legal provisions and organizations working on their behalf. Some of these are mentioned below:

  • NGOs such as Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA), SEWA-RURAL, Consumer Unity and Trust Society (CUTS), Campaign Against Child Labour (CACL),
  • International agencies such as United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), United Nations World Food Program (UNWPF), World Health Organization (WHO), Co-operative for American Relief Everywhere (CARE), OXFAM, World vision .
  • Government schemes/programmes, e.g. Central Social Welfare Board sponsored Swayamsidha, Protection Scheme for Girl Child (Tamil Nadu), and Street Children Projects.
  • International and National conventions and laws
