Reducing solid waste & hazardous wastes

  1. Buy long lasting consumer goods.
  2. Buy consumer goods in refillable glass containers instead of cans.
  3. Try to avoid asking for plastic carry bags while purchasing groceries.
  4. Use sponges and washable cloth napkins, towels etc. instead of paper ones.
  5. Don’t use disposable products.
  6. Choose the items which have the least packaging.
  7. Start individual or community composting plants.
  8. Buy things which are reusable, recyclable/compostable.
  9. Buy recycled goods.
  10. Consult the local health department for safe disposal methods for hazardous chemicals.
