Reflected light

When a light is bounced or reflected off a wall or ceiling instead of shining at a person or object, it is no longer a direct light. But it does come from a directional source and the light is bounced back at from the wall - this has now become reflected light. However, the light-source is still the spotlight, and so the beam is directional, still the objects around are viewed through the reflected light
