Kitchens need good light directed onto work centers and eating tables plus a fairly high level of general illumination. Ceiling lights are almost indispensable, plus bands of light at strategic points through down lights, recessed lights, lights mounted on the lower surfaces of cabinets are ideal as task lighting.
