ONION
Objective:
It is a commercially important winter vegetable crop grown in India and is used both in the raw and mature bulb stages as a vegetable and spice. It is also useful food for cattle and poultry. Onions are used as salad and cooked in various ways in all curies, fried, boiled, baked, used in soup making, in pickles and for other purposes. This is one of the vegetables which is exported. The present chapter will make the students familiar with its importance, production technology, seed production practices and plant protection measures.
