Lesson 13:Landscape Resources: Soil

Introduction

Soil is the medium in which most plants grow. The type of soil, soil profile , colloidal property of the soil, pore space , and available plant nutrients are all important to a lesser or a greater extent for the plant growth. Different plants need different types of soil for their optimum growth and development. From the landscape point of view the most important characteristics of soil are its depth, chemical composition, texture, water content, and nutrient content and so on.
