Soil amendments

• It is possible to some extent to improve the texture of the soil.
• The water holding capacity of a sandy soil can be improved considerably by adding organic decayed matter or green manure crops.
• The texture of a clayed soil can be corrected by improving its drainage by adding either organic or coarse sand or both.
