Fireplace And Its Contribution To Interiors

  1. Light:
  2. It is a major contribution of fire places today, because the illumination they provide is unique. It is restfully soft and warm enough in colour to make even pallid persons look darker. The concentrated flickering light is almost hypothetically relaxing and pooling people together.

  3. Heat:
  4. From a fire place it seems well worth its cost on a cold day. Heat output can be increased and controlled by designing the fire box with a damper to control the draft and throw into the room. A projecting or suspended hood radiates heat. Prefabricated fire boxes and vents circulate heated air effectively.

  5. Cooking:
  6. Cooking over an open fire is a pleasant way to make fun out of much work. It is informal and divides labour among host, hostess, children and friends.

  7. Ventilation:
  8. It is hardly a major function of fire place, but they do air rooms with a good fire, moderating them when are cold wind blows when the damper is opened.

  9. Symbolism of ‘Hearth and Home’:
  10. It continues to be important gathering around a fire by the whole family for whatever reasons makes them feel relax and secure. Finally fire places provide a somewhat dangerous place to burn trash and also a harmless outless for various energy.

Fireplace Types

Masonry (brick or stone fireplaces and chimneys) with or without tile lined flue. Unreinforced masonry chimneys do not stand up to earthquakes well.

  • Reinforced concrete chimneys. Fundamental flaws (the difference in thermal expansion rates between steel rebar and concrete which caused the chimney flues to crack when heated) bankrupted the US manufacturers and obsoleted the technique.[citation needed] This type of chimney often shows vertical cracks on the exterior of the chimney which worsen as the internal rebar rusts.

  • Manufactured ("prefab")
  • Fireplace with sheet metal fire box and double or triple walled metal pipe running up inside a new or existing wood framed or masonry chase with a chase cover, a cap, and spark arrestor at the top to keep small animals out and sparks from exiting the chimney cavity. This type of fireplace is very popular for new construction for ease of installation and is very cost effective. This type of fireplace is currently being made for wood, natural gas, biomass and propane fuel sources.

  • Ventless Fireplace (duct free fireplace) that are fueled by either gel, LP/bottled gas or natural gas. Some states and local counties have laws and ordinances regarding these types of fireplaces. They require little installation and do not use the same BTUs as a traditional fireplace. The gas burning version of a vent free fireplace while using less BTU's worth of fuel, burn that fuel at close to 100% efficiency, making them very powerful heaters. This being the case, before purchasing a gas burning vent free appliance make sure to size it according to the cubic feet of the area it is going to be installed in. Aside from the heat output there are also air quality control problems due to the amount of moisture they release into the room air.
  • A stone fireplace is rustic, natural, masculine, and beautiful. An indoor stone fireplace can add warmth and depth to a room and an outdoor stone fireplace can add character and activity to yard. When thinking about constructing stone fireplace designs for outdoors or indoors, the choices of materials available should be at large. There many different kinds of natural stones suitable for fireplace such as granite, slate, limestone, marble, etc. as real natural stone or cultured, manufactured faux stone. A faux stone fireplace can be just as beautiful as a fireplace made of real stone and most of the time it is hard to tell the difference.

If interested in indoor stone fireplace designs then the main decision will have to make is whether to go fort natural stone or manufactured stone. A natural limestone fireplace is very heavy. So heavy, in fact, that it may usually have to install or build it in an outside wall so that there is a solid foundation underneath it. Alternatively, it may be necessary to reinforce the floor under fireplace somewhere else in the room. Alternatively, could use the artificial stone, which weighs less than a quarter of what natural stone weighs. The decrease in weight brings several advantages to the table
