Lambrequins or cantonnieres

Lambrequins or cantonnieres are similar to cornices but, in addition to the horizontal member across the window top window, they have rigid vertical members on either side of the window. They are very effective in preventing heat loss around windows when used with draperies but they can also be used without curtains or draperies. Lambrequins have the potential of unifying windows, sometimes altering apparent size, shape, location when used in conjunction with draperies.
