COMPOSTING

• In composting pile of solid waste is collected in pit 1.5 m, deep 3x4 metre dimension or larger as per requirement (3 cubic metre/adult animal unit) as per one design ( Allnutt design). Two pits, covered on top with temporary roof to prevent desiccation , and alternative filling and emptying has been suggested.
• During compositing frequent mixing of waste is required.
• After pilling within 24 hours temperature rises to 50⁰C and within 3-8 days it reaches to 70⁰C . Thereafter it falls to 50^0‑C:N ration and moisture are important in this process.
