Thoracic Cavity

  • Dorsally : Bodies of thoracic vertebrae, ligaments and muscles
  • Laterally : Ribs, costal cartilages and intercostal muscles
  • Ventrally : Sternum and transverse thoracis muscle
  • Posteriorly : Diaphragm

Boundaries of thoracic inlet

  • Dorsally : Body of 1st thoracic vertebra
  • Laterally : 1st pair of ribs
  • Ventrally: Manubrium sterni
