  • This acronym has two meanings. Ideally TEAM implies that several members of an interdisciplinary team interact with clients when issue of loss and grief arise. It also implies that veterinarian and client work as cooperative team to implement the elements of a case management plan.
  • The TEAM model of a helping relationship consist of four parts. Usually the model is implemented clockwise. Although all parts of the TEAM model are represented equally, the individual parts of the TEAM model may vary form one situation to another. For example with some clients it will be very easy to establish trust and rapport and more time will be spent on the other three parts of the model.
  • Hence it is of utmost importance that the veterinarian deals with his client in a cordial way so as to provide the best service for animal health and welfare. The following points help in developing an idea while dealing with your clients.
    • Maintain a pleasant association with your client.
    • Be friendly sympathetic and complimentary.
    • Allow the client to let out all his feelings.
    • Listen your client patiently.
    • Do not interrupt his conversation.
    • Avoid arguments.
    • Understand his problem clearly.
    • Put yourself in client's shoe.
    • Gain client’s confidence.
    • Use natural and easy language.
    • Talk in terms of client’s interest.
    • Show a cordial and sincere interest towards client’s problem.
    • Be sure of your facts.
    • Give a meaningful reply.
    • Render the client a real service.
    • Never lose your control (be angry).
    • Try to avoid outside distractions while talking with your client.
    • Be sincere in your attempts.
