GROSS SPECIMENS

Fungal infections - Gross specimens

• Mycotic abomasitis – Bovine
• Aspergillosis – Lung
• Lungs often contain multiple nodules,small or large having a dull grey colour surrounded by a narrow zone of hyperemia
• Ring worm – Skin
• Saucer like,cup shaped depression with raised borders are seen on the skin,confluence of several such lesions gives a honey combed appearance

Mycotoxicosis

• Aflatoxicosis – Liver –Bovine
• Enlarged, pale and firm, in some advanced cases it may be hard to cut, section reveals necrotic greyish areas
• In early cases liver may be yellow and fatty
