Vertical transmission

VERTICAL TRANSMISSION

  • Transmission of an infectious agent from the infected mother to their offspring (from one generation to the next generation) by hereditary, acquired or congenital at birth or infection of the ovum / embryo or foetus itself in vivo.
  • Vertical transmission is of no significance in the transmission of zoonotic diseases.
