EXPRESSION OF PROPORTION AND RATES

  • They are expressed in three forms
    • Crude measures: Expression of the amount of disease occurrence and death in a population as whole.
    • Specific measures: Expression of the disease occurrence in specific categories of the population.
    • Example, age specific disease occurrence, breed specific disease occurrence, cause specific disease occurrence etc.
    • Adjusted measures (standardised measures): Adjustment of confounding variables which are similarly distributed in two study population.
