TRANSMISSION

• Transmission is through direct contact. Inhalation of aerosols from acutely affected animals, aerosols generated from dust contaminated from pox scabs in barns and night holding areas, and contact through skin abrasions either by fomites or by direct contact are the natural means of transmitting SGPV. Mechanical transmission by insects also occurs.
