LESIONS

  • The important post-mortem lesions are
    • fluids in the chest and abdominal cavities, which may be blood-stained;
    • widespread bleeding over organ and body surfaces with congestion
    • enlarged spleen and lymph nodes containing a lot of blood which may resemble blood clots;
    • heavy and shiny lungs with prominent divisions between lobules and oozing moisture and froth when cut;
    • trachea filled with blood stained froth
    • pinpoint haemorrhages on the surface of the kidneys
    • haemorrhages and ulcers in the stomach lining
    • congested intestines with bloody contents
