The important post-mortem lesions are
-
fluids in the chest and abdominal cavities, which may be blood-stained;
-
widespread bleeding over organ and body surfaces with congestion
-
enlarged spleen and lymph nodes containing a lot of blood which may resemble blood clots;
-
heavy and shiny lungs with prominent divisions between lobules and oozing moisture and froth when cut;
-
trachea filled with blood stained froth
-
pinpoint haemorrhages on the surface of the kidneys
-
haemorrhages and ulcers in the stomach lining
-
congested intestines with bloody contents
