Introduction

The IMViC test series consists of four different tests; they are indole production, methyl red test, voges – proskauer test and citrate utilization test. These tests are useful in the differentiation of Gram negative intestinal bacilli, particularly Escherichia coli and the Enterobacter-Klebsiella group.
