Calculation of area - Problem 2
Unit 6- Calculation of area and volume
Problem
2. A railway platform has two of its opposite sides parallel and its other two sides are equal. The two parallel sides are 1001 and 120 ft. is length they are 151 each other. Find its area.
ABCD is the trapezium in which AB and CD are the parallel sides of a railway plat form and AB1 = 1201 and OC = 1001
Since the other two sides are equal and perpendicular to the platform,
A = ½ h (a+b)
= ½ x15(100+120)
= 1650 sq.ft
