• Pedigree may be defined as a description of the ancestors of an individual and it generally goes back to some distant ancestor or ancestors in the past. The pedigree is helpful in finding out if two individuals are related by descent, i.e., have a common parent in their ancestry and therefore are likely to have some alleles in common.
