ERYTHROPOIETIN (EPO)

• Anaemia in more advanced cases of CRF further debilitates these patients.
• hr-EPO is expensive, it takes considerable time before the haematocrit rises, and often antibody production against hr-EPO develops later on.
• Haematocrit in canine patients using calcitriol often stabilizes, and sometimes even increases.
