    • Hybrid vigour or heterosis, usually refers to the increase in size or rate of growth of offspring over parents.Heterosis or hybrid vigour is the increased or decreased vigour exhibited by the hybrid over their better parent value or their mid parental value or to a standard variety

    Objectives

    • Hybrid vigour in crop plants can be increased in yield of fruits/tubers/bulbs, or reduction in number of days to flower.
    • Heterosis is credited for large increases in production per unit area
