Important points to be observed before and after the collection of rumen fluid

IMPORTANT POINTS TO BE OBSERVED BEFORE AND AFTER THE COLLECTION OF RUMEN FLUID
  • About 200 ml of rumen fluid sample is to be collected for various tests.
  • The rumen fluid can be kept in room temperature for 9 hours and in refrigerator for 24 hrs.
  • After collection, rumen fluid container should be immediately closed air tight.
  • During collection discard the first collection of rumen fluid and then collect the sample so that error in pH can be minimized.
