Treatment

Dilating the cervix by mechanical means using operators hand

Administration of oxytocin 30 to 40 IU mixed in 5% dextrose saline as slow intravenous drip

Administration of calcium borogluconate 250 to 300 ml intravenous may help to increase the uterine tone.

Gradual traction on the fetus along with massage of the cervix may help to relax the partialy dilated cervix

Warm saline douche - 5 liters of warm saline is prepared and infused into the uterus to promote uterine contraction aiding in cervical dilatation

Cervicotomy – Traction is applied to engage the fetus in the cervix and the cervix is incised laterally to widen the opening and the fetus is delivered.

Caesarean section may be resorted as a last option
