Climatic Requirement

Groundnut is essentially a tropical plant. It requires a long and warm growing season. The optimum temperature for vegetative growth of groundnut is from 27-30 oC. Lower temperature is not suitable for its proper development. During ripening period it requires about a month of warm and dry weather. Groundnut has been found to grow and yield well in areas receiving 500-1,250 mm of well distributed rainfall.
