Lesson 14 : Sensory Impairment- Hearing

Central Auditory Processing Disorder

CAPD is not a hearing impairment in terms of reduced hearing sensitivity, but is instead a difficulty understanding the meaning of incoming sounds. A child can “hear” but is not able to efficiently interpret sounds or structure his or her auditory world. This can be compared to the “visual” problem of dyslexia.
