Creativity and personality
It is well known fact that creativity is the most valued human quality. It is considered vital for shaping the man’s future. Every creative person passes through different stages such as infancy, childhood and adolescence. Each stage has its own characteristics, therefore, it is not fruitful to study the children of all ages. Grippen(1933) observed that the children in the age group 3-7 years have capacities to form various images, organize them and reassemble them to improve the theme which exhibits their aesthetic sense and emotionality. Ligon (1957) has depicted the growth trends in imagination in children at various age levels. According to him, the children begin to develop imagination through direct experience and repetition of their experiences in verbal and imaginative play at 2-4 years age. The child learns the skills of planning for the first time between 4-6 years of age. He experiments with adult roles through imaginative play. The creative imagination takes a turn towards realism between 6-10 years of age. Children get pleasure in taking keen in interest in exploring new things during the period 10-12 years.
The creative persons exhibit different characteristics in different fields For ex. Painters and poets exhibits emotional sensitivity. Creative moral and social will while scientists were known for their idealism, emotional introversion, anxiety etc. Thus creativity on the whole prepares the individual to take independent judgment, stimulates their creativity, promotes them towards complexity then simplicity, motivates for imagination and adventurous nature and influence the personality.
