Anganwadi

Under the ICDS, anganwadi were established. It is a centrally sponsored programme introduced in 1975, with the main objectives of reducing the incidence of mortality, morbidity, malnutrition of school dropouts in the age group of 3 to 6 years. It lays foundation for proper psychological, physical and social development of the child and helps to enhance the mother’s capability to look after the child’s health needs through health and nutrition education. This programme was designed for the disadvantaged section of the community.
