Lesson 41 : National Policy for Children

Introduction

In recognition of the supreme importance of children as a national asset, the Government of India have adopted the resolution no 1-14/74- CDD, on August 22, 1974 on the national policy for children. This resolution says the “National children are a supremely important asset. Children’s programmes should find a prominent part in the natural plans for the development of human resources, so that, children grow up to become better citizens, physically fit, mentally alert and normally healthy endowed with the skill and motivations needed by society”. Providing equal opportunities for development of all children during the period of growth should be the major aim and this would scene larger purpose of reducing is equality and ensuring social justice.
