Brain storm all the possibilities for concepts and instruction related to the theme.
Organize and categorize curriculum possibilities by developmental areas and subject areas.
Develop a skills list or outcomes for the theme being studied.
Select and plan activities and lessons from those topics generated as possibilities; discuss with children things of their interest related to the topic they want to learn.
Gather and organize resource materials and learning centers; if possible involve children to generate ideas for materials as well as to access materials.
