Control measures

• Use less energy from fossil fuels in power plants, vehicles and industries
  
• Switch to cleaner burning fuels.
  
• Develop more efficient vehicles that reduce air pollution.
  
• Use scrubbers in the smoke stacks of factories to prevent the entry of pollutants into the atmosphere.
  
• Add powdered limestone to the acid rain affected soil by a process known as liming to neutralize the acidity of the soil.
