Dried and preserved flowers and foliage are often sold in the flower shop to customer desiring a permanent arrangement. Several methods of preservation have been developed and almost any flower or foliage can be preserved. As a result, florists have a wide variety of materials available to them.
Even though most flowers and foliages can be preserved, few florists elect to dry and preserve their own materials. They prefer to buy them from commercial sources.
Some retail florists may choose to preserve floral products themselves. Drying and preserving flowers is also an excellent project for a floral design class. At the end of the flower arranging class, one should have a large variety of flowers dried and preserved to make a beautiful flower arrangement.
