Lesson 17 : Housing Environment for Special Needs – Children

Introduction

The child is dependent upon the home for continuity of security, affections, intimacies and loyalties, by which his richest growth is consummated. The home is the environment is which the child spends the greater point of his formative years. It should provide for the whole of the child’s life: sleep, privacy, formation of habits, play, works and their pleasures and satisfaction. Children develop rapidly and each phase of their life is characterized by certain activities of the child itself and by special requirement for its care. Adaptations in use made of rooms and changes in furnishings & equipment are necessary from time to time as the child develops.
