Space Programming for Residential Facilities

Another basic component of the house planning is the space programming which lists all spaces is the building and accounts for the percentage of the total area attributable to specific spaces.

Economy is of utmost importance and should have design features required to accommodate a wheel chair.

Administrative and service areas is also required

Dietary spaces: should be approachable and pleasant

Apart from these housekeeping spaces, common use facilities, parking etc. should also be considered.

Some additional spaces as social services counseling area, snack bar, games room, library, medical shop, religious facilities etc., can also be provided.

Congregate housing must enhance the quality of life for residents as well as add to their years of independence by ensuring the availability of special and essential supportive services.
