Operational Research

This more recently developed and important aspect of research is concerned with the application of scientific methods in helping to make decisions in complex situations. It is a somewhat separate branch of scientific research, although it is undertaken as a special project by some of the larger cooperative research associations. To great extent, research into decision-making, whether in terms of production, commerce, or administration, is undertaken either by specialists within a company or by professional consultants with the requisite specialized experience.
