Heavy weight fabrics like corduroy and sateen are better dyed by this method. This works on the principle that normal atmospheric pressure can be substituted for the higher pressure generally required. This method reduces dyeing costs.
In the vaccum impregnation process, air is evacuated from the dye tank to near zero pressure, the fabric is then covered with the dye liquid while it is in this vaccum stage, and then the system is opened to allow return to normal atmospheric pressure. As a result, there is instantaneous wetting, virtually complete saturation of the fabric and impregnation of the dye in to the fibres.
Suitability:
This method is especially suitable for fabrics that are not easily wetted. This can be applied even finishing with wrinkle- resistant resins.
