Differences Between Dyeing & Printing:

Dyeing And Printing 3(2+1)

Lesson 10 : Printing Methods

Differences Between Dyeing & Printing:

  • Textile printing differs essentially from dyeing in that it is designed to produce multi-coloured patterns rather than a solid, all over single colour on textile materials.
  • Printing Process are more complicated than that of dyeing process.
  • The machinery used for printing is more elaborate and demands a higher capital outlet than that of dyeing.
  • To know whether a fabric has been dyed (or) printed, examine the outline of the design. The edges of the design are sharply defined on the right side of the Printed fabric. The entire design seldom penetrates to the back of the cloth.
  • Examine some of the raveled yarns. If the design has been imprinted, the yarns will show areas on which the colour is not equally distributed.
  • An important feature of Printing is that it enables the printer to cover up yarn or fabric defects to a far greater extent than what dyeing or finishing could do.
